The race will begin and end at the Bali Safari & Marine Park in Gianyar and participants will be facilitated by traffic marshals and local Balinese security (pecalang). A highlight of the event and a great photo opp is traditional Balinese dancers performing for the crowd at the start of the race.

Bali Kite Festival 2023

Bali Kite Festival 2023

It’s almost time for the much-awaited Bali Kites Festival! One of Bali’s most popular community events and a favourite with our guests, this spectacular annual event is a great photo opportunity and a wonderful way to immerse yourself in Balinese culture.

Taking place on Sanur’s Paganggalak Beach, just 5 minutes from Prime Plaza Suites Sanur, you can witness Balinese kite troupes from villages all over the island come together to compete and showcase their magnificent giant kites alongside international teams with modern kites.

A traditional Balinese giant kite can measure up to 4 metres wide and 10 metres long. There are also kites with “tails” - some as long as 100 metres! Each kite takes weeks if not months to produce - usually by young Balinese boys who would gather in the Banjar to make the kites by hand using bamboo frames and other materials.

Throughout the festival, there’ll be various competitions held such as “new kite creations” and more. Youths compete with each other to take home the coveted title and prize money. Each troupe is usually accompanied by a group of Gamelan players which adds to the fun and festive atmosphere. During this time, the sky above Padanggalak Beach will be filled with kites of all shapes and sizes - it’s truly a sight to behold and something that you do not want to miss.

The Bali Kites Festival usually takes place from July to August, September and sometimes October, depending on weather conditions. Each day’s event would also depend on weather and wind conditions, so do check with our front desk or concierge if you’re planning to head to the festival!

Sanur Beach Clean Up

Sanur Beach Clean Up

We’re delighted to share that this year’s Sanur Beach Clean Up was a resounding success.

On 21 July 2023, staff of Prime Plaza Suites Sanur, alongside the wider tourism community, members of the industry and schools in Sanur came together to collect plastic rubbish along Sanur’s shoreline. We began at 7 a.m. and covered all of the main beaches in Sanur including Sindhu Beach, Karang Beach, Cemara Beach, Padang Galak and Segara Ayu Beach.

This is an important undertaking for us at Prime Plaza Suites Sanur, as in addition to keeping our beaches clean, it also serves as a learning platform for the local community on the dangers of plastic pollution to the ocean and the environment.

This initiative was spearheaded by the organisers of Sanur Village Festival, which took place on Pantai Matahari Terbit from 19-23 July. All plastics found were properly disposed of and processed by the local processing plant.

Save Marine Environment With Rip Curl Surf School

Save Marine Environment With Rip Curl Surf School

Let’s all do our part in saving the ocean, Bali’s coral reefs and the marine environment when we go surfing with Rip Curl School Of Surf!

Together with The Rotary Club Bali Action, Rip Curl School Of Surf has collaborated with the non-profit “Ocean Gardener” to develop a coral nursery right here in Sanur. This coral restoration programme is important to help replenish damaged corals along the Bali coastline. This amazing initiative allows corals to grow in favourable conditions. Once healthy and fully grown, the corals are then transplanted back into the reef where they will become a part of a vibrant underwater marine environment that’s teeming with life.

Please consider supporting this wonderful initiative when you are in Bali next by signing up for the Coral Nursery Snorkel Tour. You could also sponsor a coral planting or donate a coral nursery rack. For more information or to book, please send an email to our team at info@sanur.pphotels.com.
