Prime Plaza Suites Sanur - Bali Receives Platinum At The Tri Hita Karana Awards Night
Tri Hita Karana is a Balinese Hindu concept that relates three sources of harmony and balance, between humanity and God almighty (Parhyangan), between humans and humans (Pawongan), and between humans and the environment (Palemahan). These three sources are important to the Balinese community in order to create harmony and to give balance in life.
Prime Plaza Suites Sanur – Bali is proud to announce that we have been awarded Platinum at the Tri Hita Karana award, the highest category in the award. Tri Hita Karana accreditation is organized by the Tri Hita Karana Bali foundation and is fully supported by the Bali Government. The award recognizes the above practices that the hotel has incorporated into its business practices in order to work in a peaceful and harmonious way.
There are five categories of the awards: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Emerald, and Platinum. It is indeed a great privilege to be awarded the Platinum category; it showcases how serious the Prime Plaza Suites Sanur - Bali is in constantly maintaining the environmental aspects of life amongst the community. Our General Manager, Mr. Stuart Bolwell says, "We are committed towards supporting the Tri Hita Karana’s principles in our daily operation, in order to preserve local values, protect the environment and to contribute towards the local community.

Cultural Event: Kuningan Day
The Balinese believe that Kuningan day is the day when their ancestors return to heaven after visiting the earth during Galungan celebration. They make offerings to be given to the ancestors on their farewell day. The offerings include yellowed rice (Kuningan is derived from the word kuning which means yellow) which is placed in a small “bowl” made of coconut leaves. Other common offerings a seeds, fish and fruit like papaya and cucumber. The yellow rice is the symbol of human’s gratitude towards God for all the life, joy, wealth, health and prosperity given. The bowls are decorated with a small figures of shadow puppets which represents angels that bring joy and wealth to earth.
It is also said that on Kuningan day Ida Sang Hyang Widhi (God) is blessing and giving prosperity to the whole world. Many people believe that the celebration should be done before noon, before gods and goddess’ return to the heavens to continue their asceticism.
On Kuningan day you can see tamiang and endongan decorations hanging outside homes and temples.
In some villages, especially in Gianyar region, Barongs or ngelawangs – lion like creatures – are going from house to house followed by kids playing traditional Balinese music instruments. If a barong arrives in front of your house, you should give an offering called canang with sesari (money) on it, after receiving the offering; the barong will dance and bless your house and your family.

Sharing Joy of Christmas
Prime Plaza Suites Sanur – Bali is continually contributing to society, one of our charitable foundations we support is the Yayasan Bina Ekklesia.
We visited Yayasan Bina Ekklesia on December 13th, 2018 as one of charity activities in conjunction with Christmas celebration. The foundation is located in Denpasar, about 15 minute drive from Prime Plaza Suites Sanur - Bali and is home to over 25 children and adolescents, these children all live under the one roof ranging from ranging from 4 - 20 years old. Coming from West Sumba, a beautiful yet very dry island to the east of Bali, the children are from poverty stricken families who struggle on a daily basis. This situation often leads to child abandonment, abuse and neglect, and forces many children onto the streets, creating an ever growing population of "Social Orphans".
Ekklesia was established in an effort to improve the plight of these children. The foundation provides quality nutrition, a clean, safe place to live and equips the children with proper education and life skills. Their aim is to raise a better generation, who are prepared to be significant contributors to their society and prevent them turning to the streets to beg. We've been supporting them with their needs such as foods, books, and other facilities. In our last visit, we also took our magician to entertain the kids! It’s such a pleasure to see their smiling happy faces. If you would like to donate to this special cause either in cash or with educational books or even clothes, we will be more than happy to assist.
