Garuda Wisnu Kencana or the GWK Cultural Park in Ungasan is a must-visit. A sprawling cultural complex, it’s home to a fantastic monument of Lord Wisnu atop a garuda that is visible throughout all of South Bali. The statue is 120 metres in height and 64 metres wide and can be accessed for a private tour for a small fee. An elevator will take you up 9 floors to a viewing deck, where you can take in the amazing views for miles around.
Traditional performances are also held at GWK. Starting from 10am, you can watch a variety of dances including a Balinese Dance, Bumbung Dance, Barong Keris Dance, and the Garuda Wisnu Ballet. Don’t miss out on the Kecak dance that takes place at the Amphitheatre.
While you’re there, be sure to check out the Exhibition Hall, the Lotus Garden, the Garuda Cinema, Plaza Garuda and Plaza Wisnu. There are also 2 restaurants, a Bali Art Market and a souvenir shop.
