Bali Kita Festival
Coming to Bali for the summer? Then you’re in luck because the Bali Kites Festival is back! Taking place on Sanur’s Paganggalak Beach, just 10 minutes drive from Prime Plaza Suites Sanur, this spectacular annual event attracts thousands of visitors as Balinese kite troupes from villages all over the island come together to compete and showcase their magnificent giant kites alongside international teams with modern kites.
A traditional Balinese giant kite can measure up to 4 metres wide and 10 metres long. There are also kites with “tails” - some as long as 100 metres! Each kite takes weeks if not months to produce - usually by young Balinese boys who would gather in the Banjar to make the kites by hand using bamboo frames and other materials.
Throughout the festival, there’ll be various competitions held such as “new kite creations” and more. Youths compete with each other to take home the coveted title and prize money. Each troupe is usually accompanied by a group of Gamelan players which adds to the fun and festive atmosphere. During this time, the sky above Padanggalak Beach will be filled with kites of all shapes and sizes - it’s truly a sight to behold and something that you do not want to miss.
The Bali Kites Festival usually takes place from July to August, September and sometimes October, depending on weather conditions. Each day’s event would also depend on weather and wind conditions, so do check with our front desk or concierge if you’re planning to head to the festival!

Beautiful Must-Visit Waterfalls In Bali
Bali is not only about stunning sunsets and sandy beaches. The island is filled with magical waterfalls that will take your breath away. Here are our top 3 recommendations of must-visit waterfalls in Bali, perfect for your next jungle adventure on the Island of the Gods!
Tegenungan Waterfall
This is a great beginner’s waterfall that’s also family-friendly. Located in Sukawati, Tegenungan is easily accessible via a well-paved road. Once parked, you can easily get to the waterfall by walking down a set of concrete stairs. It’s a wonderful, lush space, surrounded by dense foliage growing on giant boulders all around, with the waterfall thundering down into the pool in the centre.
Tukad Cepung Waterfall
This is a must visit for those who want to experience one of the most beautiful and breathtaking spots in Bali! Located in Bangli, the waterfall itself can be found in a small cavern. Water pours down from the roof of the cave, creating a magical, sparkling waterfall. Depending on the sun, rainbows would sometimes form in the mist, adding to the cave’s other-worldly atmosphere.
Sekumpul Waterfall
Located in Singaraja in North Bali, Sekumpul Waterfall is a cluster of 7 narrow and gentle cascades that falls 80 metres below into a rock pool. This is one of the hardest waterfalls to get to. Getting there includes a hike through a village, several hundred steps and some small river crossings. The waterfall itself is majestic and impressive, definitely worth the hike, but not recommended for the elderly and small children.
Other beautiful waterfalls in Bali to include in your must-visit list would include Banyumala, Gitgit, Nungnung, Aling Aling, Tibumana, Munduk and Melanting, Dusun Kuning, Goa Rang Reng, Kanto Lampo, Yeh Ho, and Blahmantung Waterfall.
