Bali Art Festival (Pesta Kesenian Bali)

If you’re in Bali this month, then you’re in luck because Bali Art Festival, one of the island’s biggest cultural events is currently taking place in Denpasar until 16 July 2023 at Taman Werdhi Budaya Art Centre (Bali Art Center).

This is a great opportunity to witness traditional and contemporary dances, shadow puppetry, music compositions, gamelan recitals, vocal, musical and dance collaboration and youth competitions all in one place. While you’re there, do browse through exhibitions and stalls selling handicrafts, textiles, paintings and sculptures and of course, irresistible local snacks and delicacies.

First launched in 1979, the Bali Arts Festival is Indonesia’s longest-running festival. Each year, it opens with a magnificent street parade with hundreds of performers in full rmake up and vibrant costumes. The closing ceremony will be another much-awaited event with a series of breathtaking live performances and traditional ballet at one of the open stages from 8.00pm onwards. It’s a sight behold and a great photo opportunity!
